Information about cookies and other tracking techniques

General about cookies

Cybernode has chosen the name cookies, regardless of whether it is a cookie, Local Storage or some other technology for handling locally stored information.

A cookie is a text file that is stored on your computer, mobile phone or other device when you visit a website. Cookies are used to recognize your device the next time you visit the website, customize your experience of the website and collect statistics about its use in order to optimize operation and performance. There are also similar techniques for collecting information in connection with e-mails, when beacons, gifs, pixel tags or code are used, for example.

Another type of local storage that is becoming more common is Local Storage. The function is similar to that offered by cookies, but is more modern and more flexible.

Different types of cookies

There are persistent cookies and temporary cookies (so-called session cookies).

  • Persistent cookies are stored on your device for a certain period of time or until you delete them. Used to, for example, remember which setting (for example language) you had during a previous visit to the website.
  • Session cookies are only stored during your visit to the website and are deleted when you close your browser. These are used, for example, to measure performance or collect statistics on how different parts of the website are used.
